"You can see the recession coming but you can still prescribe the wrong moves. You have to be right in what will happen and in what to do. Being right in one but not the other doesn't help you make money. Here are a couple of things Mr. Schiff said in this book".

Sir, this book was written for investors with a longer time horizon than 18 months. Schiff predicted the collapse itself, not when it would happen... and 99.99% of the population disagreed with him that it ever would happen at all. The "moves" he is suggesting are of the same substance. He is not saying when they will pay off, but that they will eventually. You need to recognize how much of a rare genious this guy really is. You want to have your cake and eat it too. Who else are you going to listen to, the guys who have been wrong all this time?

I just finished the book and I thought it was a good read. Very thought-provoking and actually pretty common sense. Not to mention pretty scary. We all know that what the government is doing right now is not right. It just smells tainted. If it smells, it's probably bad. Schiff is right on pretty much everything he says. Yes, there's some contradiction and a lot "how-to" details left out, but what he says in this book is what SHOULD happen. As we know, however, things don't always happen as they should. As for making judgments on his predictions at this point, it's premature to evaluate based on the current mess we're in right now (and going deeper with the Obama administration). Schiff clearly states that his predictions are going to take a while to play out. The government will continue to try to prop up the economy using artificial measures (as it's done for years) until they can no longer be sustained and our economy is completely bust. We're not far from that now, and the current pork spending bill about to be passed in Congress (and more to come in the next 4 years) will drive us deeper into recession, possibly into a depression. The days of prosperity are over for a while.

In summary, I strongly recommend this book to everyone. Even if you're not a doom and gloom type of person, I don't know how anyone could read this and think it's complete b.s. Like I said, what Schiff says is really just common sense. At least it should get you thinking, instead of blindly listening to what Obama, Gietner, Reid, Pelosi, etc, are telling us. They're going to tell you what you want to hear.
