Carnival of Personal Finance #90

By Harry Sit

Carnival of Personal Finance #90 is up at Mapgirl’s Fiscal Challenge. My entry was Bank CDs by Auction: Name Your Own Yield. It didn’t make into the host’s top picks for the carnival, but it still got into the second tier, or in Mapgirl’s words — “articles I liked a lot but not quite ready for the Big Top.” I’d respectfully disagree, but you know I’m biased. :-) Anyway, checkout the carnival and enjoy the diversity of the personal finance blogosphere.

I also submitted my pondering Was It a Bubble, Or Was It Just Early? to the Carnival of Investing, but I don’t know where the current edition is. The main carnival site hasn’t been updated since Feb. 21. [Update: Carnival of Investing didn't run this week for lack of host.]

Speaking of CD auctions, another CD auction is currently underway at Zions Direct. This time it’s for $2 million 3-month CDs issued by Zions First National Bank. At the time of this post, the auction received 60 bids from 32 bidders and the market clearing yield is 5.99%. This auction closes today at 2:00 p.m. EST. There are two more auctions planned this week, for 9-month and 1-year CDs respectively.
